LSEA Palm Sunday Event
March 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
As a church located in Logan Square, it is deeply important for us to have a reconciling relationship with the land in which we occupy. One way we do that is through our involvement with the Logan Square Ecumenical Alliance.
The LSEA is deeply involved in advocating for the Bring Chicago Home Referendum which will be voted on by Chicago constituents on March 19th. The Bring Chicago Home referendum is an opportunity to supply a permanent revenue stream to provide support, housing and stability to the thousands of people made in God’s image who are currently unhoused.
So please join us after service next Sunday for Palm Sunday! Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with palm branches, and highlight’s Jesus’ justice ministry. Both as he overthrew tables in the temple and as he wept for the city saying to the Pharisees, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace!” (Luke 19:41)
After service on Palm Sunday, New Community, along with other churches in the LSEA will be marching to the Logan Square monument located on the boulevard holding signs and waving palm branches all convening on the monument where LSEA leaders will speak to this justice work. There will be worship, fellowship and food. All are invited to join us! We will depart from the church at noon and the event will end around 1pm.
