1st Sunday Pop-up Potluck (now 7/12/26) and a Partnership Opportunity with WLM Ministries
July 12 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Due to 4th of July weekend and travel schedules of our key volunteers, the 1st Sunday potluck is being held the 2nd Sunday in July (7/12/26).
Additionally, on July 12 we will hear from Pastor Bill Mathis of WLM Ministries. New Com is honored to consider creating a partnership with WLM Ministries, Inc., a movement committed to amplifying the voices, agency, and thriving of African and African Diaspora communities. Together, we engage in ongoing work that embodies our shared conviction: that communities marginalized by unjust systems must be centered as the architects of their own liberation and abundance.
Through two annual initiatives—our Ministry Accompaniment Trip to Cuba and our Ecumenical Learning Experience—we walk alongside brothers and sisters in struggle, learning their stories, honoring their wisdom, and building collaborative relationships rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose. These are not charity efforts, but partnerships grounded in solidarity: opportunities to witness resistance, celebrate resilience, and deepen our own commitment to justice locally and globally.
You’re invited to learn more and join this work. On Sunday, July 12, Pastor Mathis (WLM Ministries) will join us for our morning service and remain for the potluck from 12:00–1:30 pm. He’ll share the history of our partnership, why it matters, and concrete ways you can participate in either initiative.
Come ready to listen, to question, and to consider how you might join us in this sacred work of accompaniment and empowerment.
