She fell in love with the city, and since then has lived on the South, West, and North sides of Chicago. Over the past 13 years, Ruth has been involved in various kinds of work: high school teaching, managing and shepherding young adults, community organizing, working at a non-profit, and mentoring youth. She is excited to be serving as NewCom’s Interim Small Group Coordinator at New Community. When she is not working with New Community, she is probably painting (watercolor), spending time together with her husband (Kenny) or two children, or sharing good food and conversation with close friends.

Suzie Sang

Suzie Sang • Interim Director of Ministry Operations

Suzie was born and raised in Kingston on the beautiful island of Jamaica and came to faith in Christ in her mid-20s at a Billy Graham crusade that was streamed live to her homeland. Her desire after college was to use her degree in International Relations to become an Ambassador. However, God had other plans for her life that led her into Advertising and Media and then eventually towards the pursuit of a Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in sunny Southern California. After living and loving SoCal for 10 years, she moved back to Jamaica to work in higher education and on staff at her home church. Suzie fell in love with Chicago after her first visit in the Fall of 2002 and was excited when God opened the door for her to pursue a PhD in Educational Studies in the Chicagoland area. She is a leader and a learner at heart with a deep love for people. During her 20 plus years of ministry experience, Suzie has served at several churches in the U.S. and in Jamaica and looks forward to how God will use her gifts, skills, strengths and experience to love His people and do the work of the Kingdom. She thoroughly enjoys spending time with people, travelling, eating good food and being by the water.
